Dear Friends,
I’m upset; but that’s nothing new. Daily I’m reminded of the mess we
have here in
In Thursday’s Patriot-News appeared a headline – “Legislative leaders keep
expense records secret” by Jan Murphy. Thanks for the great reporting,
Jan! The seventh paragraph reads – “The House and Senate chief clerks’
offices, which operate at legislative leaders’ direction, denied requests
for copies of the reports called ‘summary report of voucher activity’ in the
House, and ‘management reports’ in the Senate. Officials from those
offices said the documents are for internal use.”
I received from Eric Epstein of
RockTheCapital.org the following headline – “How Much Is David G. Argall
Worth?” The sub-headline read – “House Reform Committee Member Socks
Taxpayers.” Thanks, Eric, for all your efforts and results! Go
to Eric’s website – RockTheCapital.org - and view Rep. .Argall’s bloated
expenses.
I have worked for several
companies in sales and/or public relations most of my adult life. In
every case, I was required to complete an expense report either weekly,
bi-weekly or monthly with receipts. The actual charges were paid; no
more or no less. Those expense reports were available to all
management and stockholders of the companies. Per Diems did not
exist.
As taxpayers, we
are the stockholders of a large corporation known as
Not all in government abuse
their privileges; many are attempting to place the taxpayer first. It
is unfortunate that they are in the minority. Too many have abused the
system for far too long. We fired a few after the infamous pay grab of
July 2005. It appears we may have to place a few more on another
government payroll – unemployment compensation.
It appears that many of our elected officials are
confused as to who they really work for; themselves or the taxpayers.
If themselves, they might want to check with Rep. Mark Cohen, as he’ll have
a book on how to complete an expense report. It appears Rep. David
Argall already has. With all those books the taxpayers paid for; it’s
a shame Rep. Cohen doesn’t have one on how to conduct an honorable and
accountable government. It appears they don’t sell many of those books
