Fraud of the Week:
T. J. Rooney on Judge Michael T. Joyce
RockTheCapital.org
Last week T.J. Rooney stumbled out of his moral leave-of-absence long enough
to judge the appropriateness of staying in public office after defrauding a
financial institution.
Democratic Party Chairman T.J. Rooney sent out a statement saying that
Judge Joyce should do "the honorable thing" and not
run for reelection.
"It is absolutely incomprehensible
to me as to how a judge would subject himself to this kind of negative
publicity and still have the audacity to ask to serve the public rather than
excuse himself from the process and demonstrating humility and remorse," Mr.
Rooney said. (Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette

Mr. Rooney, too, did the “honorable thing” and quit
office rather than be thrown out. Rooney has steadfastly refused to pay
back the money he kept after the “unconstitutional” pay raise. ''The
Supreme Court of Pennsylvania has taken another view on several occasions.
Until the Supreme Court tells me differently, I will follow the law of
Pennsylvania.” (Morning
Call , November 17, 2005)
Apparently, Article 2 Section 8 does not appear on
Mr. Rooney's constitutional eye-chart.

asked Rooney on December 26, 2006 on WHP-580 AM if he would pay the money
back after the Supreme Court’s September 14, 2006 decision. He responded
by saying that John Perzel didn’t pay the money back and blurted: “I’ll show
you mine when Perzel shows you his.”
